Splashes

The waves, they speak
to me.
Beckon my name
and call me in. To their world.
Rush towards my feet,
swirl around
my ankles.

And if I pretend not to hear,
they crash against
the rock that I rest upon
and drench me
in a burst of spray.

Their roar silences
all other sounds
yet cannot fully drown out
my peals of
laughter
and wonder
as they entice
me in,
toss me up
and then hold on to me
as I fall back
into their mighty arms.

These waves. They will not relent
until I have
given myself up.
And begun to discover
who I am
all over again.
